Coastal Bend Area COVID 19 Clinic - Needs Volunteers
Posted about 5 years ago by Ilaria (Lala) Reyes
FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION: to all licensed physicians, nurses, and advanced practice providers
-Covid19 is sickening and killing people in our area, and is likely to worsen within the current surge as well as in expected future surges. NOW is the time for every doctor and every provider to step forward within their capacity to help.
-An area-wide Covid19 Clinic is being set up by Nueces County, Amistad Clinic, and other stakeholders, and it is set to open Monday, August 3! The Clinic needs volunteer providers for both virtual and in-person patient visits. Prompt outpatient care may prevent progression of the disease, as well as help relieve the strain of local EDs and hospitals.
-We are asking for every provider in the region to donate two or more 3-hour shifts per month. Care is not difficult or lengthy. For those who request it, training in the outpatient care of Covid19 patients will be provided.
-Volunteer physicians can sign up by replying to Paulette Shaw atpshaw@nuecesmedsociety.org. Nurses and APPs please reach out to Dr. J. Stefan Walker, MD at ccma.jstefanwalker@gmail.com. Once we get your name and credentials, we will provide you with a website interface whereby you may sign up for shifts. For those working on-site at the clinic, full PPE will be provided; for telehealth - the vast majority of care being provided - you may do so from home, assisted live by an MA who will be documenting the visit for you.
-Any licensed professional who plans to volunteer with this or other Covid19 efforts is welcomed to take an upcoming ACLS / BLS combined 2-day course provided free of charge by Driscoll Children’s Hospital, first come, first served basis. Sign up quickly, there are only 20 slots for the first course August 7 & 8. Live CME and CNE is available for this event! Those interested in CME should Dr. Walker at ccma.jstefanwalker@gmail.com.
Please consider donating some of your time today and help our community during this pandemic!
Respectfully,
Your Coastal Beand APN Board
